INTRODUCTION
What is Cross Stitching?
Cross stitch is a simple form of embroidery that uses uniformly sized X shaped stitches on even weave fabric to form designs of various nature.
What are the types of Cross Stitch?
There are two common types of cross stitch, counted cross stitch and stamped cross stitch. Counted cross stitch involves the use of a chart or a graph to guide the user in the design of the embroidery. The stitcher actually counts the number of squares in the fabric that correspond to the chart. In stamped cross stitch, the design is already stamped into the fabric. Some kits only have the outline stamped and there is still a need for a chart for the colors and other kits have the entire design including the color stamped into the fabric but for both types, there is no need to count the squares.
There are other types of cross stitch for the more adventurous ones but we'll save that for later.
